Hi all,

 Hi i am a very keen diver although my job dosent alow me to go very often and i have recently been given some Citalopram as a result of being stressed through work. i am due to go on a hoiliday to the Bahamas as my friend is an instructor out there and obviously i want to dive. Is it safe to do so whilst on this medication?

Dear colleagues,

I am involved in writing a Dutch guideline for diving by patients with diabetes. We are of course using the 2005 DAN/UHMS "Diabetes and recreational diving" workshop proceedings as a basis.

One specific issue we are struggling with is what the best advice may be for divers with diabetes that use a subcutanous insulin pump.

Of course, these pumps must be disconnected prior to diving. There are then two options:

A member of my dive club recently had a CABG (he infarcted in Tonga on a dive trip last year!) and he keeps askiing me when he can dive again. My feeling is never but what is the official line based on evidence,

Hi.  I am trying to obtain my certificates in open water and advanced open water.

I need these as a prerequisite for my Police Search and Rescue application and not just for recreational diving.

Approximately 10 years ago I was involved in a car accident.  I sustained 3 broken ribs on my right side and a pneumothorax on my left side.  There was no penetration of the lung tissue.

Reading a back issue of the SPUMS Journal (19:17-18) I came accross a letter advising that Bleomycin is an absolute contra indication to diving.  This reminded me that some years ago one of my students had mentioned to me in passing that he'd had his blood pressure meds changed from Beta-blockers when he'd gone for his dive medical, so I'd asked the editor of MIMS if they would consider adding a "no diving" icon for drugs contraindicated for diving.  The editor was initially interested but eventually decided the addition of an icon to known contra-indicated dru
