Diving with depression

Hello to all,

 

I would like to know if you can dive whilst taking prescribed SSRI (Sertraline) for the treatment of depression?

There is no specific contraindication to diving with depression (especially treated depression).

There are no specific problems with the medication reported although insomnia (difficulty sleeping) and somnolence(daytime sleepiness)  have been reported in a few patients (13% and 7% respectively). This would not be a problem in itself and as with all prescription medication users, people should not dive if unwell from any side effects of the medication they are taking.
